When all the discs are a good fit, the spigot on each one can be removed. The giant jaws are needed for the largest disc. The thickness of each one is 20.0mm

The beech dish is made like a bowl in the usual way. First a temporary spigot is cut in the face which will become the top

The blank is reverse chucked and the face trued up. The edge is also cut to a true cylinder to minimize vibration

A 110mm recess is cut, to suit the giant jaws

Since the dish is quite big and heavy (and there is lots of space available) the giant jaws are used to hold it

The blank is reverse chucked again so that the flat dish can be created
