The castors that used to be in the furniture have a diameter which requires a 9.5mm hole
The screw holes are 5mm, but the sunken heads need a 10mm hole to let them turn freely
The four stages of producing the bun feet - rough shaping, turning, drilling and then pressing in the castor unit
Our furniture did not have particularly strong fixing points for the castors, so four long screws were used to give maximum grip in each corner
This shows the final result, each of the settees and chairs was raised by about 70mm, giving them a new lease of life.
A close up of the final installation - a very mundane project that saved a lot of money to be spent on more exotic tools and woods!
