The irregular octagonal shape is mostly turned to a cylinder

The disc at the base of the bowl is formed. Its diameter will fit the "G" jaws later

The blank is now bolted in position 2. A paper label acts as a check on the centre

A small counterweight permits a faster turning speed. It is safely mounted on the back of the faceplate, out of the way

The second layer is formed. The heads of the mounting bolts are getting a bit too close for comfort

For the third layer, the bolts are used for positioning only, then replaced by countersunk screws
