The five sided bowl has edges which spiral down to the base in graceful curves
Its manufacture is rather like the "four cornered candlestick with a twist"
The maple blank is held by tailstock against the chuck and the first spigot is cut
Using this spigot, it is reverse chucked and the exact centre of the face is marked
Keeping the centre mark, the "top" face is trued up. The rim is made a true cylinder
Reversing again, the blank is held between four prong drive and tailstock
