Calculation shows that the cylinder must have a 35° angle (several pine wedges)
The compensating angle is 16° and a further pine wedge makes a block
The mahogany wedge will make the stalk. It is sandwiched between two pine wedges
The wood glue makes the joint slippery. Secure it with long bolts in the corners
The wedge assembly is paper glued, bolted and clamped
Prior to turning, it is sawn to a square block
