Imagine a discus lying on the ground, one edge down, the opposite edge up. A shallow off-centre depression is created in the upper surface and the lower surface is flattened to give the bowl stability.
The blank is a strongly patterned piece of yew to add character to an unusual shape
There are two turning axes at an angle of about 10 degrees from one another. This was my first attempt at a bowl of this nature. Next time round I might do it a little differently!
